Inclusive STEM Learning

GRIT is dedicated to making STEM accessible for all students, with a focus on inclusivity. We believe that diversity in STEM fields strengthens innovation and creativity, and we encourage participation from middle school students of all backgrounds.

Accessible Online Meetings

GRIT meets every Saturday at 12 PM EST via an accessible online platform, making it easy for students across the nation to participate and learn together. Our online format ensures distance is never a barrier to engaging with STEM.

Hands-On Research Skills

Each session, students dive into hands-on research, learning foundational techniques to approach STEM questions scientifically. Supported by high school mentors, students build confidence in conducting and presenting their research.

Guided Learning by Experts

Our board members and high school mentors—in future years they will likely be GRIT alumni—provide guidance, real-world insights, and approachable support, making STEM learning relatable and inspiring for younger students.

Monthly Showcase Events

At the end of each theme, students present their projects at a showcase event, celebrating progress and accomplishments with peers, mentors, and family.

Guided Group Work and Collaboration

Small group projects and discussions build teamwork skills, encouraging students to explore ideas together, share perspectives, and support each other’s learning.

Interactive Weekly Challenges

Each session includes a hands-on challenge, such as designing a solution or conducting a mini-experiment, helping students apply what they’ve learned in creative ways.
